(I-BusinessNews.Com, January 27, 2015 ) Tampa, FL -- An internationally accomplished shoe design executive has been engaged by Happy Feet Plus to modernize the Kenkoh brand of foot massage sandals.
Kenkoh is the original Japanese massage sandal discovered by the co-founders of Happy Feet Plus, Jacob Wurtz and Jane Strong, at a health fair in 1980. The foot health benefits and relief experienced from the Kenkoh massage sandal has made them widely popular in the Tampa Bay region, where they are frequently seen on NBC WFLA TV.
The designer, Steven Goodman of Steven Goodman Design LLC, was trained in shoe pattern design at New York's prestigious Parsons School of Design and went on to design new lines for US Shoe Corp, Brown Shoe Company, and several JC Penney lines including Liz & Co, East 5th, and Jacqueline Ferrar.
"Everyone knows the Kenkoh massage sandal works to restore foot health," said Jacob Wurtz. "Now we want them to stand out internationally for their modern, sleek designer look and feel." "We want them to appeal to the fashion conscious," said Jane Strong.
Rather than a uniform appearance, the new designs will emphasize the masculine look of mens' sizes and a casual feminine delicacy in womens' sizes. Color options will be wider and more various than anything seen before in the Kenkoh line.
"Great design is a blend of aesthetics, integrity, and perfection," said Mr. Goodman. "We plan to bring these elements in to enhance the great appeal of the Kenkoh solution."
Kenkoh Massage Sandals, once virtually unknown, are purchased today, for the first time, by hundreds of people a month in the Tampa Bay Area and thousands more annually through online sales. Happy Feet Plus is the sole US distributor authorized by the Japanese parent company, and has ten stores on the West Coast of Florida and an impressive e-commerce Site. The most recent Happy Feet Plus store opened this Christmas at Sundial in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. For more information visit www.happyfeet.com.
