Breckenridge Locksmith Warns Car Owners: Wireless Systems Are Prone to Security Breaches
(I-BusinessNews.Com, March 04, 2015 ) Ferndale, MI – Modern cars are susceptible to hacking, says a new report. Breaches in security and privacy unconsciously affect every automobile that employs wireless technology. Customers are left vulnerable to hacking attacks as wireless features are unable to detect breaches or respond appropriately to them. Ferndale service provider Breckenridge Locksmith gives a security warning to local car owners.

Breckenridge warns, “People think that they are entirely safe, because they have a high-tech wireless system, but there are flaws that the wrong people can expose.”

New York Times' Aaron Kessler has gathered information during the investigation and revealed it through the paper’s online publication: The report was published by the office of Senator Edward J. Markey, Democrat of Massachusetts. Information for this study was gathered from 16 prominent automakers.

“Drivers have come to rely on these new technologies, but unfortunately the automakers haven’t done their part to protect us from cyberattacks or privacy invasions,” says Markey.

The office corresponded with sixteen (16) automakers, leading to the discovery that driving history data are collected without consumers being aware that their information is being harvested. Nine (9) among the automakers make use of third-party companies to gather data, making car owners more defenseless to their records’ transmission.

Breckenridge Locksmith, the service provider in Ferndale, warns consumer about the implications of this new discovery. “Every time you go behind the wheel, someone accesses your data, and it's not just about your driving history; every information you store in your car—navigation, current location, even personal information—can easily be stolen."

Among the auto companies involved in the study are BMW, Honda, General Motors, Subaru, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen AG, Toyota and Volvo. Some companies, including Tesla and Aston Martin, ignored the request for the investigation.

Wireless capabilities allow car owners to enjoy different features: cameras, radars and built-in navigation systems. These allow user tracking but are meant for personal use only. With the outburst of this investigation, users are now questioning whether wireless auto systems are truly beneficial.

“Consumers would prefer resolutions rather than reversing wireless features,” shares Breckenridge Locksmith. “Now that this study has taken the attention of the public, it’s about time for car manufacturers to resolve this issue, in the most efficient way possible.”
